Porcelain
Veneers
This
is the Rolls-Royce restoration of choice. It is a
porcelain shell (like a fake finger nail) that when bonded
to your tooth is extremely strong. It doesn't discolor,
has natural beauty and depth of color (opalescence).
Porcelain/
Ceramic Crowns
Similar
to porcelain veneers, but encompasses the entire
tooth.
Porcelain
Onlays and Inlays
When
restorations are needed on back (posterior) teeth we
sometimes use these restorations. An onlay covers either
one or all the cusps (points) of a tooth while an inlay
would be more like a filling.
Teeth
Whitening
This
is the simplest and least expensive cosmetic procedure you
can do to enhance your smile. Whitening can be done in the
dental office in a one and half hour visit or you can
choose the "at home" method. Either method is
effective and will make a noticeable difference.
Composite
Resins
This
material is used as a filling material for either
posterior or anterior teeth. It is a tooth colored, bonded
material, which can structurally reinforce a tooth, as
compared to silver fillings, which weaken teeth.
Take
the time to Evaluate Your Smile
Hold a mirror 12" to 14" from your face and
smile to show your teeth. Observe your teeth carefully and
then answer the following questions:
- Do you
like the appearance of your teeth, your smile?
- Do the
edges of your front teeth form a downward arc (frown)?
- Are they
too short or rotated?
- Are your
teeth straight?
- Do you
have spaces that are unappealing?
- Do you
like the color, or shape of your teeth?
- Are
there old fillings or dental work that you don't like?
- How
would you like your teeth to look?
If
you answered yes to any of these questions, you may want
to consider some of the cosmetic solutions mentioned.
However, let's say that you have apprehension about what
you may look like. No problem! A digital picture can be
taken of your present smile and then digitally manipulated
to give you an idea of what to expect.
